Sports Injuries

Sports injuries respond exceptionally well to Chiropractic treatment. Pro football, basketball, tennis, golfers all have chiropractors on staff and at the ready to correct, treat and facilitate the healing of injuries. Sprains/strains, muscle spasms; back, neck and shoulder pains, arm and leg injuries all respond well to a technique called applied kinesiology that can pinpoint the problem and help correct and return the athlete to his event faster. Most sports injuries not including breaks, fractures or other obvious surgical problems, should be initially evaluated by a Chiropractic physician certified in Applied Kinesiology. Conservative care with out drugs or surgery is the treatment of choice in order to correct and return the athlete to the field of play as safely and quickly as possible.

The first chiropractic physician appointed to the USA Olympic team was an applied kinesiologist. Most athletes reject drugs and pain shots as they detract from the bodies inherent ability to heal itself and confuses the mind and the nervous system and basically just covers up the symptoms of the injury. Runners who might develop foot, ankle or knee pain can be treated successfully with conservative chiropractic care, applied kinesiology and flexible foot orthotics. Short leg syndrome affects the ankles, knees, hips and spine and can cause sciatica, knee cartilage damage or an ACl injury. Proper balance and stability are crucial in the prevention of sports injuries and to achieve maximum performance. At Sportelli Chiropractic Center we stress a healthy, aligned spine, strength and balance and proper nutrition for athletic success. Our system of treatments, check lists and management is second to none. The first choice for care of sports injuries should be Sportelli Chiropractic Center.

My initial exposure to Chiropractic Care came as a college football player. I had injured my knee and was scheduled for surgery when I was referred to a Chiropractor. He evaluated me, treated and adjusted the knee that was found to be mildly subluxated and I walked out of there, canceled the surgery and I was playing football 2 weeks later. Having been saved from surgery was a wonderful experience that I have been able to provide to hundreds of my patients.
